BMW knowledge is all applicable to Chang Jiangs. Obviously knowledge of 1930s BMWs is most helpful, but 1960s BMW knowledge is almost as good, given a quick check with online CJ resources for specs and specific info.

Rick is happy to do minor things on the Chang Jiangs, things that don\'t require ordering parts from China. He prefers not to deal with the mixed bag of sourcing the parts in China and delays in shipping them over. But he\'s always happy to discuss any particular repair or service to see if something can be done.

Quinxy (the author of this post) has a fair number of basic repairs under his belt on his own CJ and may also be able to assist.

As for further maintenance classes, we may try again in the spring, the number of people signing up was disappointingly low and prevented us from making them a regular feature.

Hello- I just brought a CJ750 from China and would love to understand basic maintinance better. It is such a shame that I just missed your August 21st deal. The changjiangexperience.com website says that your shop has done some work on CJ750s. Do you think the lessons you teach on BMWs are worthwhile and transferrable to CJ750s? If yes, are you going to have another workshop any time soon? Thank you.Rick Cabanes

This website is a great service to the vintage world. And a great service to Rick whose talent and hard work are not recognized enough because he “doesn’t have time” for computers. Bravo to the Von B. for helping Rick and BlackKat out with this site.

We've worked on a few BMW-derived bikes, including Urals and Chang Jiangs. Primarily we've done basic maintenance, oil changes, carb/valve adjustments, gasket replacements, etc. Since that's most likely what your buyer will need, we'll be able to help. Major repairs or restoration would be best handled by someone else we can likely refer you (or him) to.

Hey that South American sidecar adventure sounds like a real adventure...:)

Do you repair Urals? I am selling my 2006 Ural retro to a gentleman how lives in Venice and he was concerned to find someone who could work on it. Many thanks!

Regards,
